Maiden Voyage and Football Send-Off Complete

Progressing Nicely

We just had a family barbecue to send off our RamFam Johnny and Makayla. The crew, all but three, were gathered together. We enjoyed hanging out, talking gardens, chasing children, boys golfed a couple holes, Joel strolled with the kids and ladies.

Send Off BBQ
We all feasted on Carne Asada and tacos. It was our last supper with Johnny before camp. He flew back to LA the following morning. It was so cute, Zach and Stephanie had just moved into a new house from a 700 sq foot apartment. They thought they had so much room until the crew arrived. We had all been bunched up there many times, Zach said, "Now it feels like the old apartment!"

We have some new arrivals this year so we are growing still!

Johnny is now happily back in LA with the guys. We know he loves being home, but he LOVES his work. You could tell from his size he has been working hard this summer.

I have been working hard on getting things organized with the RV. We took  Admiral IRV on his maiden voyage to Salt Creek Recreation Area. This has been a long time favorite spot for our family. We took the boys camping here tons as kids. With sometimes interesting results.

Ask any of the boys about the Cheetos photo.

The first camping trip in the rig taught us tons about how to organize things and put things together.

Feel Free to respond with any tips or tricks that worked for you, RV friends.

We are hoping to get it all together before we head out on the open road for four months.

We love our opportunity here and hope you join us.  More to come.

Good Riding!

RAMfam Adventure Awaits...Planning Begins

I awakened from a dead sleep with a complete vision and picture in my mind. I boldly announced, " Hey Bob, we are going on an RV trip around the USA and going to see some football games and talk to Rams fans!" His first response was, "Yeah, we can be RAMbassadors!" I loved that comment. We laughed and hugged and let it be.....until we were driving one day and passed an RV lot.

Pricing vehicles, we thought wow, that is impossible on our retired budget. Nice dream though.

We saw a 1998 Pace Arrow at the side of the road and called to look at it. It was only $5000. But it was worth less than that. Things were broken and falling off the vehicle and it had tons of mileage.

Nice dream though.

We started looking on "lists" for a bargain. Bargains come with risks. We started looking at what would be demanded of an RV to do the route we wanted to do? Mapping it around the US we came up with 12,743 miles of direct routes if we never take a side road. An old RV with many miles would be a huge risk.

I even came up with a mock up of what the RV in my dreams looked like.
Class A .... all the way!

Nice dream though.

We kept looking and dreaming. We checked our finances, and talked, and prayed.
We found a great rig with low miles under 16,000, Class A, good upgrades, well cared for, even brought our RV expert neighbors to look at it. 2005, but doable terms, and we said yes.... It was under contract and due to a mistake, it was sold out from under us.

Nice dream though.

Miracles, do happen; however!

Our dealer corrected the error and found us our dream vehicle for only $50 per month more because they gave us a ridiculous deal to make up for the error.

Nice dream come true.....But the Rams colors are not burgundy and black, so another decision is being made, new mock up. Going old school!

Watch and see the dream come true through this blog.
We will be doing updates constantly as we move along and would love to meet with all you Rams fans along the way!

We will make 7 Rams games this year around the US. See tons of family and friends. Join us along the way. Check out @mamajoyo on Twitter momjhekk on Instagram Joy Hekker on FB.
